Lin returns from a smuggling trip to a city that seems to have changed too much, too soon. It has been two years since the events in Shantaram, and since Lin lost two people he had come to love: his father figure, Khaderbhai, and his soul mate, Karla, married to a handsome Indian media tycoon. In The Mountain Shadow, the long awaited sequel, Lin must find his way in a Bombay run by a different generation of mafia dons, playing by a different set of rules. Gregory David Roberts' epic novel, Shantaram, introduced millions of readers to a cast of unforgettable characters in the hidden heart of Bombay through Lin, an Australian fugitive, working as a passport forger for a branch of the Bombay mafia. One for the Money is a great start to the series. The characters are lovable, fun, mysterious and sexy. I love this series so much (and am currently reading book 12, Twelve Sharp). While trying to find Morelli, Stephanie attracts the attention of a heavyweight boxer involved in the murders of several women. Stephanie really needs the money so she blackmails Vinnie into working for him. So she starts apprehending some clients who have skipped out on their bonds, starting with Joe Morelli, a cop and past one-time lover. She wants to work there as an assistant, but the job is already taken by Connie. She finds a job offering through her cousin Vinnie, who turns out to be a bail bondsman. Freda Bedi (1911–1977) broke the rules of gender, race, and religion-in many cases before it was thought that the rules were ready to be challenged. She was the first Western woman to become a Tibetan Buddhist nun-but that pioneering ordination was really just one in a life full of revolutionary acts. A fascinating biography of Freda Bedi, an English woman who broke all the rules of gender, race, and religious background to become both a revolutionary in the fight for Indian independence and then a Buddhist icon. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It's important to note that Leblanc's earlier books have easy-to-find English editions, while the later books can mostly only be found in French. Gail is able to expand Kyrria as Evie travels as an ogre to find true love and a proposal to save her.
